School Colors
From NDSUwiki
North Dakota State University's School Colors are Yellow and Green. The colors were originally established in 1909 and were recently upheld by the 2007-2008 Student Senate, as they proclaimed 2008 The Year of the Yellow and The Green, in honor of our alma mater The Yellow and The Green which is 100 years old in 2008.
The University officially recognizes Yellow (Pantone #123) and Green (Pantone #342) as the official colors.

History
Establishment
The school colors were officially established on April 9th 1909. This record can be found in the NDAC Faculty Minute Book:
- “Professor Keene moved that green, number 65 and yellow number 140 of the color card be made the official colors of the institution. Seconded by Prof, Weeks, Motion prevailed."
The 1970s and 1980s
Many of those that attended the institution during the 1970s and 1980s were under the impression that the school colors were Gold and Green. The assumption that our colors were gold and green directly contradicts all three of our School Songs (The Yellow and The Green, On Bison, and We Are the Pride) all three of which reference Yellow and Green, not gold.
There was never any official deviance by administration, students, or otherwise, to change the school colors to include gold and remove yellow, as such our colors have remained Yellow and Green since 1909 when they were first established.
2007
In November of 2007 the 2007-2008 Student Senate voted unanimously to pass Senate Resolution 08-## which established 2008 as The Year of the Yellow and The Green, this resolution also noted that the school's colors are Yellow and Green.
Tradition
It is tradition to wear Yellow to NDSU sporting events that are at home and Green to NDSU sporting events that are away. Additionally, many students wear Yellow on Yellow Tuesdays
